Last week I shared the best true crime podcasts for your next commute and today I want to share the other podcasts I listen to. I realized when I was writting the last post that I have podcasts I listen to when I’m in a certain mood. They help me lift my mood and make sure I’m ready to kick ass.
The moods I’m describing below are all moods we go through. As an ambitious woman, sometimes things can get a bit too much. In times when I feel overwhelmed I like to inspire myself to focus on the positive side of life. Since I know a lot of other women struggle with the same feelings, I thought I would share my inspirational podcasts. So sit back, binge listen and keep your stress levels to a minimum!
TO MAKE YOU FEEL LESS ALONE
I discovered this podcast because one of my favorite bloggers was on it — The Anna Edit for the people who want to know this piece of information — and rediscovered it a month or so ago. The podcast is aimed at female entrepreneurs and creatives who are self employed. I do feel that some of the topics are relatable for any ambitious woman. She’s real, doesn’t shy away from the not so glamorous parts of working for yourself and talks about anything business. Which I LOVE. I kind of miss having more people to talk business with so this is a really good substitute for that as well.
But the best part about this podcast are the relatable topics that will make you feel less alone. I’ve listened to this one on my walks and they bring me such a feeling of calmness. Knowing that I’m not the only one struggling. Not to sound mean, but sometimes just have to hear your own problems from someone else to feel at ease. It really helps me to power through and focus on what I want to achieve.
Right now I’m on episode 13 of the 47 episodes. I would highly recommend to listen to at least episode two & three. One is about how being busy doesn’t equal being productive. If you’re feeling pressure from that, please raise your hand because I’m there with you. And the other one is about competition and the comparison game. Something I think we all fall for sometimes. Listen to the One Girl Band Podcast on iOs or Soundcloud.
MY FAVORITE ONE GIRL BAND PODCAST EPISODES:
EPISODE 048 • MENTAL HEALTH AND RUNNING YOUR OWN BUSINESS: Mental health is one of the most important thing you have when you own your own business. Especially when you work on your own, you are your biggest asset. This episode talks about the importance of it.
EPISODE 054 • GETTING CLEAR ON YOUR BRAND VALUES: One of my favorite episodes to revisit. If you are looking to refine your brand values this is the episode for you. It will walk you through how to define your values to have a framework you can reference to make the right decisions for your brand or company.
EPISODE 063 • NO-ONE HAS THEIR SHIT TOGETHER: The title says it all: no-one has their shit together. And it is true, no-one has. But it always great to hear it from someone else who works for themselves.
WHEN YOU NEED MOTIVATION
Whenever I feel like quitting the self employment lifestyle, one of the inspirational podcasts I always put on is the Becoming Fearless Style Collective podcast. Why? Because every episode is an interview with an ambitious woman who just went for it and created her own path. Even if the woman who is being interviewed isn’t in the same industry as I am, it’s still an inspiration to me.
The podcast host is Annie Spano, who herself created her own opportunities with Style Collective. She asks her guests about their why — if you’re not familiar with it, check out this TED Talk — and their journey to where they’re now. It inspires to trust the journey you’re on and everything will fall into place.

WHEN YOUR MIND IS TOTAL CHAOS
When I want to center my mind or want to be inspired to clutter the chaos, I listen to Optimal Living Daily. In the podcast the host — Justin Malik — narrates blog posts. The first time I listened to the podcast I had to get into the narrating style. Now I actually find it soothing.
Every day there is a new post being read to you on personal development, health, minimalism and similar topics. They’re very short episode. I think the longest I listened to was about 9 minutes long. Which makes them perfect to listen to when I’m doing my hair and makeup. So before I even start the day I get inspired to be more mindful.
If you feel like your work life is total chaos and you want to center your mind, listen to Optimal Living daily on iOs or Spotify. They also have separate inspirational podcasts on finance, business and health.
MY FAVORITE OPTIMAL LIVING DAILY EPISODES:
EPISODE 1361 • ‘LIVING FOR YOURSELF & NOT OTHERS’ BY AILEEN XU OF LAVENDAIRE ON SELF HELP & BEING TRUE TO YOURSELF: This is an episode that is not narrated by the regular host. Instead the writer of the article narrated it. And it is still very soothing to listen to. The episode goes into how to make choices that are aligned with your values and how you want to live your lives. It is a great reminder when you want to recenter yourself.
EPISODE 1364 • ‘4 REASONS YOU NEED TO KEEP DOING HARD THINGS TO BE HAPPY, HEALTHY AND SUCCESSFUL’ BY MARC CHERNOFF OF MARC & ANGEL: This episode spoke to me the most because I’m at that point in my business and life where I need that extra little push to keep me going. In other words, I’ve felt stuck. If you feel like that at the moment, check out this episode. It’s like a little peptalk to make you revalue your situation.
EPISODE 454 • ‘HOW TO ACHIEVE YOUR DREAMS’ BY TAMMY STROBEL OF ROWDY KITTENS: This episode is perfect if you are feeling the pressure of the upcoming year or still have some things on your mind you want to achieve. It’s basically sets out a plan for you to achieve your goals and dreams in this lifetime. It’s a great episode to (re)visit if you are feeling stuck and want to move forward.
