Wether you work in an office or you’re an one women band working for herself, dressing the part can do wonders for your productivity and confidence. And it doesn’t need to be complicated! I’ve rounded up four work wardrobe outfits that are professional (a styling background is not needed), show personality and will save you time in the morning to focus on the important things: your work.
// PRINTED DRESSES
If there is one fool proof work outfit, it’s the printed dress. It’s basically one whole outfit but only one item. It’s a timesaver in the morning when you’re getting ready for work.
There are also easy ways to show your own personality. Go for a bold color or an all over print. I like to wear my & Other Stories printed leopard dress. It has the right fit — extremely important to me — and the right leopard print. Let’s be real, they can verge on the edge of tacky real quick. Another favorite is a star print dress or one with flowers.
To make the outfit more interesting pair it with your favorite boots — I always have my & Other Stories boots or Chloe Susanna boots ready to go — or, if you’re feeling fancy, a pair of heels. You might even get away with a pair of sneakers like Vans or Converse, especially now that the weather is getting hotter and the bare legs come out.
Jewelery are also your best friends. Invest in a couple of statement pieces that you can combine with any print. Mine are my Luv Aj lariat necklace and my Michael Kors oversized Bradshaw watch.

// SWEATER & BLOUSE COMBINATION
A classic is the sweater with blouse combination. Pair it with wool trousers like I did or with a pair of leather leggings or just jeans. The look of a blouse or shirt underneath a wool sweater will instantly make your look into a professional business outfit.
The outfit I’m wearing is the perfect replacement for anyone working at home in comfy clothes. Instead of throwing on your trusty sweats, get yourself a polished pair of wool trousers and sweater. Just as comfortable but it’ll give you more of a business mindset.
I personal love a longer blouse underneath a sweater so that a little bit peaks out around your neck and at the bottom. You can choose a basic palette like I did or combine a printed blouse with a solid color sweater. As for the cut of the sweater, personally I think a little oversized will look the best but most importantly is the quality of the sweater. Invest in a mohair or wool sweater for fall and winter and a lightweight cashmere one for spring and summer. I highly recommend checking out the H&M’s quality range. Most of my wool, mohair and cashmere sweaters are from this range. They last me a couple of seasons and aren’t as pricy as most quality sweaters. They sweaters can range from € 50 to € 150 but keep an eye on the sale for a good bargain!

// CASUAL JEANS DRESSED UP
I know some work places don’t consider jeans being professional attire but if you can wear them, don’t get to casual. Dress our jeans up with a silk shirt — also available at H&M or & Other Stories for reasonable prices — or a structured boxy top. This will give your look a more polished and high end look.
My preference are either dark wash jeans like the Levi’s high waisted jeans or coated jeans. You might get away at some work places with blue mom jeans. Especially if you work from home. & Other Stories has a couple of good options if you are in the market for a pair.

// POWER SUIT
The real girlboss look is obviously the power suit. The combination of a trouser and blazer that will make you feel like you got this or maybe it’s about taking the suit that has always been the go to look for business men that give you that empowering feeling. Whatever it is, you need one in your wardrobe.
Go for a bold color or print. The checkered print is really hot right now or go for vertical stripes. Even better if you can wear the trouser or blazer on its own as well. Combine it with a silk blouse to look polished or add a graphic tee for a more casual look.
The power suit is already a powerful combination on its own but you can amplify it even more with some killer heels. You can also wear it with sneakers or — in my case — boots.
