Now that we are entering the last weeks of the year, the holiday parties are taking over. Work parties to end the year, Christmas Eve party, a spectacular NYE with friends or hanging with the fam on both Christmas days. Whatever you got planned, you want to go all out. Why? Because 1) you can & 2) what other day in the year do you get to go all out? The holiday season is perfect to show up, dress up and dazzle.
To get you inspired I created this chic holiday style guide with ideas what to wear to your holiday parties. All with my favorite items to wear or items I would love to wear, for any occasion. Whatever you end up wearing, wear something you feel like your best self in!
Leaving home for Christmas? Check out my light packing list for short trips.
THE OVERSIZED BLAZER DRESS
To kick off the chic holiday style guide is my favorite type of dress: the blazer dress. It’s simple, looks amazing and has a chic vibe to it. All that I want in a holiday look. It’s definitely what makes me feel like my best self during parties.
You can play around with different fabrics, like more of a silky texture like the L’Academie Cadet Dress* or a velvet number like the L’Academie Military Dress in dark blue*. You could spice it up with a different color or go for a classic black one — my favorite but that shouldn’t come as a surprise. I’m loving this & Other Stories velvet black blazer dress* but this one* from Nastygal with the gold buttons is right up my alley. I’ve also been eyeing this glitter blazer dress from Zara — you know if you really want to make an impression.
If you’re on a tighter budget this year, you could also get an oversized blazer from your wardrobe and wear it as a dress. That’s what I always do. In my holiday outfit today I’m wearing an old blazer from Supertrash — that’s unfortunately not available anymore — that I also wear with jeans or trousers.
THE GIRLBOSS SUIT
For office parties I would go for the girlboss suit or power suit. What better way to feel like you’re killing it in your job than when you also look the part. Making you feel like the successful career women you are or gearing up to be.
You could go for a black power suit or spice it up with glitters. This suit from Zara is to die for. If you have a bigger budget I would go for this silver glitter number* by Anine Bing. Or go for a color combined with a different fabric like this Missguided dark red velvet blazer with gold buttons* and matching trousers*.
Another way to make a statement with your girlboss suit is to go for a bold print. This blazer by ASOS Design* with matching trousers* in mono check is a good option. Checks are still going strong and the black and white is professional looking yet playful. I personally love to combine a suit with a print with a lace cami or a cool graphic tee. I’ve been eyeing the tees by Anine Bing, especially this vintage one* with eagle print and this glitter slogan tee*.
Not sure if you need a power suit in your life? Go for a suit where you can wear the trousers and blazer also on their own. I love wearing my H&M striped blazer on its own in an all black look and often wear the trousers with a tee or sweater. If this still didn’t convince you, you could also combine a jumpsuit with a blazer. This ASOS Design jumpsuit* with the structured body will look amazing at your next office party matched with this Mango velvet blazer*.
THE STATEMENT DRESS
Although I love a good versatile little black dress, the holiday seasons needs a statement dress. The number one dress I want to share is one I’ve been wanting to add to my wardrobe FOREVER: the Fame and Partners The Kye Dress*. I love star printed dress and this is the perfect party version. I also love this Self-portrait off shoulder velvet mini dress*. The party version of the little black dress. Or go for this For Love & Lemons Emerie cutout dress* if you want to go for a little white dress.
Personally I’m a mini dress person but I can imagine that not everyone is up for that type of style. This strapless maxi slip dress with olive leopard print* from ASOS Design is a full length option that could easily be combined with an oversized blazer and heels. And you can wear it in spring and summer on its own.

Don’t have a big budget to go holiday outfit shopping? That’s why I added the accessories section to my holiday style guide. This is an easy way to make an outfit feel like new and festive without overspending.
Don’t have the budget for a statement dress? Go for a pair of statement shoes. These Zara black sandals with feathers*. & Other Stories has a similar style* in their collection with fur. Or go for a bold color — these gold sandals from Sam Edelman* are perfect for Christmas — or print like These RAID Brook leopard block sandals*.
Just like with everything else, more is more in the holiday season. When you’re spending the holiday with loved ones you don’t need to have a lot of stuff on you. This & Other Stories short chain black and gold clutch* will hold all your essentials. Or go even smaller with this cool Zara white marble clutch. To stay in the clutch department, this oversized Topshop Alexa fur clutch* is also perfect if you’re looking for something festive to bring along.
Another great way to upgrade your look from basic to festive is adding the right jewelery. One of my all time favorite jewelry brands is Luv Aj. I’ve been a fan for many years now and can highly recommend this brand for affordable pieces. This Luv Aj Cascading snake chain necklace* is the perfect layering piece to upgrade your trusty little black dress with. Plus it’s on sale right now making it a total steal. If you want a pair of statement earrings than look not further because these* are the ones. They’re simple, hanging statement gold earrings. A budget friendly option is this two part snake ring* from the ASOS Design collection.
