ROME

by TheChicItalian

A month ago my niece came up with the idea to go on a short trip to Rome. Since I was craving a vacation and because it sounded like fun, I jumped at the chance to go to Rome for a couple of days. I’ve visited the city five years ago. That Summer I went to both Barcelona and Rome for the first time and I got my first Louis Vuitton bag. Now years later I was still impressed with this historical city.

What I love about Rome is that every corner you turn you see something incredible. The architecture of this city is beyond amazing. My niece actually tried to teach me a thing or two about the different types of architecture but I was more distracted by what I saw and the fact that she even still remembered things that she learned in high school haha.

Because I’ve been here before I still knew where some of the things were. We still ended up getting lost on my account. I’m apparently terrible at reading maps. Yes, even Google maps. Even though I had seen all the important landmarks on my first trip, there was one thing I really wanted to achieve this trip: finding a place with good food. I’ve been in different parts of Italy because my dad is from Veneto {hence, TheChicItalian}. Before going to Rome I’ve never had bad food in Italy. I honestly was convinced that you couldn’t really screw up Italian food, let alone screwing up Italian food as an Italian, but on that first trip to Rome I had ZERO good experiences with restaurants. And we tried, we really did. Luckily this time around we had nothing but semi good to amazing experiences with food. I will list my favorites in my Rome travel guide in the next couple of weeks!

Because we only went for 5 days I packed very light. If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen the Instagram story I posted {if not I also uploaded it to Twitter right here} with everything I took with me. The only thing I didn’t add in that video was a white dress I took with me and the white blouse I’m wearing in this post. I actually bought that one during the trip because I was still missing a cotton white shirt in my wardrobe. Perfect for a late afternoon stroll through the Foro Romano area and piazza Navona to end the night with a Bellini on the rooftop bar at hotel Minerva.
