When it is sizzling hot outside all I want to do is wear the least amount of clothes. However, when you work in an office it’s not really an option. Even when I work at home I try to look as if I’m ready to head to the office. It’s something that motivates me and gets me in the right mindset. But choosing what to wear to work this summer can be a slight issue. At least it used to be for me.
I’ve gathered the items that I love wearing in summer. My personal work wardrobe guide to what to wear to work this summer. Let’s keep it cool!
WORK APPROPRIATE WRAP DRESS
First item that I personally love is a wrap dress. On my personal wish list is this & Other Stories leopard midi wrap dress* in brown/orange. I already have two star print wrap dresses that I wear to death but they are both pretty short. This one is a little longer which makes it perfect to wear to work this summer.
Wrap dresses in general are perfect for summer: you only need one item to make an outfit. You can go plain — like this bright red wrap dress from & Other Stories* — and dress it up with printed heeled sandals, a statement bag & jewelry. Or you can go with a wrap dress with a print — like this & Other Stories dotted mini wrap dress* — and make it the eye catcher. You can dress that one up with heeled sandals and down with a pair of Vans. Depends on what your work place allows you to wear.

THE MIDI SKIRT
You know I love a midi skirt — I live in my leopard one from H&M — and I still think you can easily wear it from spring into summer. You just have to switch out the top. My recommendation would be a linnen t-shirt — and if you can go sleeveless — a silk cami. I like this midi skirt from H&M with black & beige zebra print* — easy to combine with both top options.
If coffee is life for you as it is for me, then check out this & Other Stories pleated skirt with coffee bean print*. I love the print plus it’s easy to combine with a graphic t-shirt because of the earthy tones. If you like a more plain, you can’t go wrong option, then this Anine Bing black bar silk skirt* is more your jam.

CLOSED NOSE MULES
You know what I find the most hard thing to come up with to wear to the office? Shoes. If you work from home it’s easy because you can wear open toe footwear like sandals or slip ons. When you work in an office a pair of chic sandals will most likely be accepted. But in case that you work at an office that is not big on open toed shoes, I got options to what to wear to work this summer.
A great trend right now are mules. I love the mules with pointy noses. Because summer doesn’t last that long in The Netherlands I like to look at budget options. I love these from Zara with faux leather nude snake print. They are pointy but the way they are made I feel like they make your feet look a lot more slimmer. H&M has a dark brown snake skin leather slip on slippers* version that’s also budget friendly.
If you live in a climate where it’s a lot hotter all year round, you might want to look for a pair to invest in. These Aquazzura Mondaine Mules with leopard print* are statement mules that will make all your summer work outfits look put together.

WHITE OVERSIZED SHIRTS
Who doesn’t love an oversized white shirt? Especially when you are figuring out what to wear to work this summer it’s an item you can’t go wrong with. It’s also a true wardrobe staple — you can wear it to the office, wear it with a pair of jeans or as a beach cover up.
Another plus is that you can get an oversized white shirt at any price point. I own this one by & Other Stories* and wear it all year round — casual & professionally. I love to combine it with black jeans, shorts or a pair of blue jeans.
If you want something a little more interesting than you should check out this H&M white blouse with English embroidery*. Still budget friendly but it just has something interesting to it.

AT HOME WORK OUTFIT
When I work from home I want to be comfortable. However, I do love to be dressed up. It helps m e feel like a normal functioning human being who is running her own business. I know some love to work in pjs but that life is not really for me.
So for everyone working from I got you as well. Because it can get really hot at the home office as well. I personally love to wear something flowy and airy when it’s above 25 degrees. This beige tiger striped mini dress from H&M* is something I would wear. It does have longer sleeves but it’s still flowy and airy. Plus it’s cute enough if you n eed to leave the house for a meeting, grabbing lunch or work in the sun. I also love this white H&M tunic dress with embroidery* (it’s also available black). This dress is made of a lighter fabric which makes it perfect for really hot days.
If you do love to work in pjs but want something that feels a little more work appropriate, you can check out these linnen joggers from H&M*. If you like a more casual look you can dress it up with a cool graphic t-shirt like this white vintage t-shirt with a tiger print from Anine Bing*.
