I remember seeing this & Other Stories dress in white online and thought to myself ‘if only they had it in black’. I’ve a little white dresses in the past but it’s always such a hassle to keep them white. When I went to Utrecht last month, I went to check out the & Other Stories collection in stores and there it was. The little black dress. I immediately took it home with me.
What I love about the chic little black dress is that it’s a simple and versatile item that you can easily dress up and down. Having a good fitted little black dress is pure wardrobe gold. You can’t go wrong with it. That’s also the reason why I took this & Other Stories shift dress home with me, it has the perfect straight fit that super flattering for my body type. Not too tight and not too oversized, the right length and it’s made of the nicest, structured material.
Since I always talk about how items should be versatile I thought it would be nice to show you how I wear my chic little black dress for the day & nighttime.
// DAYTIME LOOK
For my daytime look with the chic little black dress I went for the summer option: with sandals and heart-shaped sunglasses. A simple look that’s casual but still looks smart. It’s the perfect summer outfit for a city trip when you want to wear something nicer than denim shorts. Put on your favorite sandals instead of flip-flops and pair it with your favorite crossbody bag. You can also swap out the sandals and throw on sneakers for a more office look.
It’s all about the accessories to make a little black dress work for you. By pairing it with your favorite daily items you give the once simple LBD a personal touch.
// NIGHTTIME LOOK
The best thing about this chic little black dress is that I can easily dress it up. You can go for a pair of sandal heels or, like me, booties. For this outfit I paired it with a simple black clutch but you can also choose something with a print — the upside of a solid colored dress — like a leopard clutch. I personally love simple, dainty jewelry for an evening look. Because it’s such a stunning chic little black dress I don’t feel the need to overdress it. A simple cuff and dainty necklace was just the right amount of gold for this evening look.
For a nighttime look I always try to do a little extra with my make-up: extra shiny highlighter, mascara — I normally don’t wear mascara during the day — or a darker eyeshadow.
